We're excited to bring you another in a series of profiles to introduce you to a few of our artisans coming to the 7th Annual Crafty Mart Holiday Show on Saturday and Sunday, November 28th-29th.  This is just one in a series of Vendor Spotlights where we let those who will be sharing their wares shine a light on what it is they do.  The following profile is April from Totally Tangled Creations and her response to a mini-questionnaire.

1). What's your name and what is it that you make?

I'm April Couch of Totally Tangled Creations, and I do Zentangle inspired drawings.  A Zentangle is a drawing that looks very complicated, but if you simply look at it as drawing one line at a time, you will be even more surprised at the end result. Simple tangles, or patterns, are combined in an unplanned way that grow and change in unbelievable and amazing ways.

2). How did you acquire the unique skill set to do what it is you do?

"No mistakes, just happy accidents" is my new mantra, and that is exactly how I got to this point in my artistic journey.  I started seriously pursuing my artistic side again about five years ago. Drawing detailed and intricate patterns has helped me to rediscover my love of drawing. Once I started, I couldn't stop.  I felt like 25 years of unleashed art was trying to push its way out, and I knew that there was so much more in me.  So, I started selling my drawings to my family and friends, and it has grown beyond my wildest dreams.

3).  What is your best seller?

My best seller, by far, is anything that I draw on wood.  No two ever turn out the same.  The wood pieces are unbelievably detailed, unique and amazing works of art that can not be duplicated.

4).  How long have you been vending? Have you done a Crafty Mart show before?

I am three months into my second year of vending.  I have done the spring and winter Crafty Marts and have also participated in the Pop Up shops in conjunction with the Art Walk.

5). Coffee or tea?

Tea!  Sage and mint, which is made just for me by two very dear friends, is my favorite.

Thank you for answering our questions April. And, thanks for coming to the 7th Annual Crafty Mart Holiday Show. We'll see everyone on Sat. & Sun. Nov. 28th-29th at Musica, Akron Art Museum, and Summit Artspace.  You'll be able to find Totally Tangled Creations at the Akron Art Museum.
